[no name] (1-0-1) found itself in a desperate situation late in the 4th quarter Tuesday night. Down seven points with 1:36 left, they fought hard on defense, pressing and trapping the Spurs, and eventually cutting the lead down to 2 with 25 seconds left. Nathan Harvey was given the ball as the clock raced down, crossing half court with 20 seconds left, he brought it right off a screen, dribbled twice towards the top of the key, stepped back and let it fly. The shot was money, but the outcome was not. What was initially scored a 3 point field goal was debated on by the two amateur referees and overturned, making it a tie game at 51-51. The overtime was even throughout and again Nathan Harvey was given the final shot, this time after a timeout with the clock ticking down. With 6 seconds left he let another 3 pointer from the wing fly, this time coming up just long, and time expired with the game tied 58-58, a disappointing outcome no doubt.
[no name] was neck and neck with the Spurs the entire first half, but as the 2nd half began, [no name] went on a authoritative 10-2 run, jumping out ahead 38-30. Their biggest lead was just that, 8 points and the game became a dogfight late in the 3rd quarter.
Contrary to Saturday’s efforts from the free throw line, [no name] shot an impressive 12 of 16 for 75% on the night, much improved over the 1-10 display of 3 days before. Other positives include the continuation of Alec Walker’s 3 point shooting. On the season, Walker is shooting 42.9%, that is 20% higher than any other team member. Walker hit another key three pointer late in the 4th quarter out of a timeout, that cut the Spurs lead to 4. Nathan Harvey poured in a season high 29 points and added 17 rebounds and 6 blocks to complete his lackluster shooting night as he only made 11 of his 21 shots. Blake Jackson attacked the rim hard the entire night and was rewarded with 16 points on 5 of 11 shooting. [no name] also continued their dominance of the offensive rebounds, grabbing 42% of their 31 misses, giving them multiple opportunities at second chance points.
Coming off what feels like a loss to the team, [no name] must put Tuesday night’s showing behind them as the move on to face 2-0 Purple Rain 8PM at Friendswood High School. The game will be the nightcap of the Wednesday Night Triple-Header.

[no name] (1-0) opened up Saturday’s first day of games with a blowout victory over Checkmate, 69-53. [no name] came out firing with Blake Jackson and Alec Walker sparking the team to an 11-2 run to open the game. However, they soon found themselves in a heated first half as Checkmate had a lead at the end of the first quarter 17-16. [no name] battled back and forth with Checkmate throughout the 2nd quarter and the game was tied at halftime 29-29.
As the 3rd quarter started, spectators could tell this game was over as [no name] took full control of the game and only allowed seven 3rd quarter points and went into the final period up comfortably 48-36. The momentum didn’t stop there as [no name] poured on 21 more 4th quarter points to end the game 69-53.
[no name] struggled from the free throw line the entire night, shooting an abysmal 1-10 from the stripe. They will need to work on these if they want to come out victorious in close games. Another note worthy team statistic is the offensive rebounding. [no name] came down with 17 of their 30 misses, equalling 57%, and they must continue to get their misses at a consistent rate if they wish to run up the score on teams.
Notable individual efforts included Nathan Harvey’s 27 points, 23 rebound display, as well as Alec Walker’s 3 point shooting efforts leading to a 14 point performance on the night. Blake Jackson started very hot the first few possessions and finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Cory Hart struggled to find his close range shot shooting 33% on 3-9 shooting and must shake the rust off if [no name] is to make a deep title run. Neil Patel also contributed all 7 of his points in the 2nd half routing of Checkmate.
[no name] will try and keep their momentum and undefeated season alive as they play host to the 0-1 Spurs at Friendswood High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 PM and is the first game of the Tuesday Night Triple-Header.
